There are reports of strain in the Sagban people group in the Yonyoo Locale of the North East district over the passing of a blamed lady for being a witch.

The woman was said to have died in her sleep, according to Citi News sources, but it was later discovered that she had been strangled to death.

According to the sources, some individuals allegedly entered her room, strangled her until she died, and then tied a rope around her neck.

The woman's family, who come from a different community, wants to know who killed her.

In the meantime, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has called on the Mo and Wangara tribes in the Kintampo North Municipality to live together peacefully.

As per him, solidarity should win, and the contention should be settled before it heightens in the locale.

The Mo tribe's announcement that it would hold rituals during the Wangaras' annual Klubi Festival in November and December sparked the conflict.

Dr Bawumia in the wake of visiting the region and meeting with the customary pioneers and individuals of the two clans, required the rebuilding of harmony.

"Let us try to ensure that conflicts between individuals, families, and communities as a whole are resolved along the principles of social justice with a shared common destiny under the umbrella of this year's festival."

“Let us make use of cultural diplomacy as a real tool for fostering peaceful relationships with our neighbors both far and near. Let us not engage individuals who attempt to partition us along ancestral or strict lines," he expressed.
