Ghana have dropped out of the main 60 in the most recent FIFA rankings, following a disheartening execution in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

After failing to impress in recent matches, Black Stars, who were previously ranked 60th in the world, have dropped to 61st place.

They started their Reality Cup qualifying effort with a hard-battled success against Madagascar at the Baba Yara Arena in Kumasi, yet their fortunes got downright ugly when they lost barely to Comoros at the Moroni Arena. Ghana's hopes of qualifying for the World Cup were dented, and their FIFA ranking went down as a result of this loss.

The Black Stars continue to be a formidable competitor on the African stage in spite of this setback. They are as yet positioned eleventh in Africa, with the main 10 groups on the landmass staying unaltered. However, if the team wants to reclaim their place among the world's elite football nations, they will need to improve their performance.

Ghana's path will be challenging as they prepare to take on some of the most difficult opponents in African football. Once more the 2023 Africa Cup of Countries, which happens in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, 2024, will give a pivotal test to the Dark Stars, as they hope to quickly return from their new battles and show off their abilities.
