Professor Stephen Adei, an economist, has voiced concerns about the "government work" attitude, saying it lowers productivity in Ghana, especially in the private sector.

He considers this way of thinking among the worst effects of colonialism in the nation.

Prof. Adei emphasized that because of people's poor productivity and intentional sabotage, this attitude substantially negatively affects the commercial sector.

"I believe that government job and the "aban dwuma" attitude are two of the worst effects of colonialism in Ghana. In an interview with GHONE TV, the former Rector of GIMPA said that "it is still there, and the private sector people are sometimes at the point of crying in the sense that not only is productivity low, but the people really sabotage."

"Most of them steal," he said. "It's becoming common for Ghanaians to do this as well as for Indians and other people. Some positions now employ foreign workers from the Philippines and India, placing them in key positions."
