John Mahama's campaign spokesman, Beatrice Annan, has criticized the government's recently introduced Performance Tracker, claiming it is a ruse to manipulate voters.

The government unveiled the Performance Tracker at GIMPA in Accra on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. The government claims that the tracker is intended to encourage accountability and openness in the execution of infrastructure projects throughout the country.

It is anticipated that the tracker will resolve long-standing concerns about the dependability and correctness of project presentations, particularly the use of artist's impressions to depict outcomes.

The tool is meant to be a trustworthy way to show the public the benefits and advancements of infrastructure initiatives, building public confidence.

On Friday, April 12, the government did admit, nevertheless, that the list of projects on the Performance Tracker at launch had 67 items that were incorrectly included.

In a social media post, the Ministry of Information announced this and thanked the people for their significant interest in the tracker.

During these difficult economic times, Ms. Annan told Selorm Adonoo in an interview on Eyewitness News on Citi FM on Friday, that the government ought to have conveyed the truth rather than misleading the people with lies.

Because there are far too many falsehoods in that tracker, we believe it to be a vote-catching ploy or a deliberate attempt to deceive people. After the tracker was activated, we began revealing the falsehoods a few hours later. And this morning, the government has publicly acknowledged that, in keeping with our responsibility, 67 falsehoods have been removed after being discovered by several individuals.

I'm not sure why, but as of right now, this administration has set a very low bar for public governance systems.

"One would think that the government would at least be open and honest in accounting to the people for the time that you have been in power, since it is the least you can do in a situation where you have the highest rate of inflation in a situation where unemployment is at its highest point in forty years, in a situation where pensioners do not have access to their invested funds," she said.
