The newest round in the apparently never-ending rivalry between Ghana and Nigeria in football has been documented, after the celebration of Nigerian striker Victor Boniface's "unique" goal.

In the first leg of a two-game quarterfinal match in the UEFA Europa League, Bayer Leverkusen defeated West Ham United 2-0. Boniface, who had been sidelined in the 76th minute due to injury, scored in the 91st minute.

The 23-year-old ran and positioned himself on the advertising board, imitating Ghana's renowned Mohammed Kudus goal celebration, to commemorate his first goal after his recovery from an abductor injury that prevented him from playing for Nigeria in the 2023 AFCON.

After playing 87 minutes in the defeat, Ben Johnson took Kudus' place. David Moyes, the manager of West Ham, gave him a lot of respect for his performance, however he also mentioned the opportunity he lost in the first half.

"I think the front players did a really good job, both defensively and trying to break when we could, and I think Mo [Kudus] had a great chance early on," he told the West Ham reporters.

It was obvious that Boniface was taking a jab at the Ghanaian midfielder when he celebrated like Kudus after scoring against his club.
