Mohammed Polo, a former player for the Black Stars, called Otto Addo, the team's current coach, "a latter-day saint," and said he thought a coach might have been chosen from the list of retired players who helped Ghana win four Afcon championships.

At an event held at James Town's Mantse Agbonaa Park by Footy Legends Gh, retired football players were honored, including the 1975 Ghana Football Association Footballer of the Year.

Polo, also known as "the dribbling magician," expressed his sadness about the absence of players from the 1970s and 1980s in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports after the game.

The individual who has been brought in, in my opinion, is a latter-day saint.

I'm depressed, but there is a chance. Despite everything we saw, Kwesi Appiah had to be sidelined for whatever reason.

He is, in my opinion, the greatest coach we have had in a long time.

Even though he is no longer with us, he still coaches outside of the program.

We're going to try someone now. Otto Addo is now on trial.

While I'm not suggesting he's bad, shouldn't we have trial witnesses in the system?

The system is experiencing certain issues that are not beneficial to us.

Polo was selected for the tournament squad and went on to win the 1978 African Cup of Nations. In the 1977 African Footballer of the Year rankings published by France Football Magazine, he came in fourth position.
